What is payphone surcharge? And what if people called from a payphone?
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted a surcharge on toll-free calls placed from payphones. This charge is collected on behalf of the payphone service providers and will be remitted to them. Therefore, if your 800/888/877/866 number receives a call from a payphone it will result in an additional charge of $0.89 per call.
Am I charged for wrong number calls?
